Every game must be played very carefully and planned from the very beginning itself. Only then the middle game and end game can be played with an advantage. If the openings are poor, it will be like a building built without a strong foundation. So openings are an important part.
Before deciding an opening move, first of all you must decide what is your strategy, whether you want to play defensively or go on and attack.

For getting better in chess, the first thing to do is to get thorough with the basics. The basics starts from the movements of each pieces, naming each squares to the opening and end games.
